The Center for Addiction Studies and Research is a California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals approved provider of distance learning prevention education.
Education Requirements and Courses
California Certified Prevention Specialist (CCPS)
Documentation of 120 hours of education consisting of the following categories:
Planning and Evaluation (10 hour minimum)
Prevention Education and Service Delivery (40 hour minimum including 6 hours of HIV/AIDS)
Communication (10 hour minimum)
Community Organization (10 hour minimum)
Public Policy and Environmental Change (10 hour minimum)
Professional Growth and Development (10 hour minimum including 6 hours of professional codes of conduct/ethics related to the prevention profession)
There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through distance learning trainings.

Documentation of forty (40) hours of continuing education every two years.
Documentation and/or certificates must be titled in areas of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) prevention education or the six (6) prevention domain areas.
