The Center for Addiction Studies and Research is a Hawaii Department of Health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division approved distance learning provider of prevention education.
Education Requirements and Courses
Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS)
High school diploma or its equivalent.
Documentation of 120 hours of prevention specific education including:
- 60 hours of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug specific education
- 54 hours of prevention specific education
- 6 hours specific to prevention ethics
There is no limit on the number of hours that can be earned through distance learning trainings.
