COVID-19 Update: The Idaho Board of Alcohol/Drug Counselor Certification (IBADCC) has waived the 50% face-to-face requirement for continuing education and the 2 hour face-to-face ethics continuing education requirement for all substance abuse certifications.
You may now complete all coursework through approved distance learning programs.
Ethics for Addiction Professionals (6 hours) may be used to satisfy the professional ethics requirement.
Documentation of six (6) hours of training in Professional and Ethical Responsibilities specific to substance abuse counselors. The six (6) hours must include the following areas: federal and state laws, client welfare as a primary concern, professional competence supervision/development, financial issues, personal wellness, and relationships to professionals and institutions.
There is no limit on the number of contact hours that can be earned through home study distance learning trainings.

Applicant must be certified as a Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (CADC) or Advanced Certified Alcohol/Drug Counselor (ACADC) for five (5) years.
Documentation of 30 hours of education specific to the first five IC&RC clinical supervision domains including: Counselor Development, Professional and Ethical Standards, Program Development and Quality Assurance, Performance Evaluation, Administration and Treatment Knowledge.
