Illinois CAADC Certification

The Center for Addiction Studies and Research is an IC&RC/NAADAC approved distance learning provider of education in the addiction field. Trainings are provided under the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) Education and Training Provider Certification #0559 and the NAADAC Education Provider #99236. IC&RC/NAADAC approved distance learning trainings can be used to satisfy initial IAODAPCA certification requirements. Please contact the IAODAPCA regarding the acceptability of distance-learning courses for continuing education requirements.

Certified Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CAADC)

Master’s Degree or higher in a behavioral science with a clinical application from an accredited college or university.

Documentation of 180 hours of substance abuse specific education including:

Treatment Services for Women and/or their Families (45 hours)
Treatment Services for Adolescents and/or their Families (45 hours)
Professional Ethics and Responsibility (6 hours)
AOD Specific Electives (84 hours)

Certified Advanced Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselor (CAADC)

Forty hours of accepted continuing education training every two years.

A maximum of 15 of the 40 continuing education hours can be from home study distance learning sources.
