COVID-19 Update: Hawaii Department of Health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADA) has waived the 50% face-to-face requirement for both initial and continuing education and the 6 hour face-to-face ethics continuing education requirement for all substance abuse certifications.
You may now complete all coursework through approved distance learning programs.
Ethics for Addiction Professionals (6 hours) may be used to satisfy the counselor ethics requirement.
A maximum of 150 of these hours may be earned through approved distance learning providers.
A minimum of 6 hours of professional ethics, 6 hours of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS, and 6 hours of confidentiality including 42 CFR Part 2 must be documented as part of the 270 educational hours required.
